The official Towards You company logo on a light background. On the left side, there is an elegant, black inscription 'TOWARDS YOU' written in a classic serif font using capital letters. On the right side, there is a minimalist, abstract graphic symbol in the form of an open circle, composed of several intersecting, dynamic black arcs. The graphic identifies a brand that offers professional coaching and mentoring services, delivered on-site in Poznań and online. The name itself, 'Towards You', along with the signet representing openness, perfectly reflects the company's mission: a highly individualized approach to the client, accompanying them through change, and the process of discovering internal potential, self-awareness, and talents using tools such as the Gallup Institute assessments or the MTQ diagnosis.
A photograph depicting a large, classic light bulb against a solid, completely black background. Inside the glass bulb, a filament glowing with a bright, warm orange light forms the distinct word “Mentor.” The graphic is a powerful visual metaphor for inspiration, knowledge sharing, and shedding light on new, effective business solutions. It illustrates the professional executive mentoring program offered both in-person in Poznań and online. The image conveys that the mentor, drawing on their own practical experience working in high-profile corporate positions, helps leaders and executives clarify their career paths, develop new strategies, and successfully lead their teams.

Mentoring for managers - why even the best leader needs a proven guide?

Aldona Gaudyn

04 August 2026

Managerial mentoring is a relationship based on the direct transfer of business knowledge, in which an experienced leader (mentor) shares their strategies, successes and failures with someone less experienced in a similar position. Unlike coaching, a business mentor provides specific advice and suggests ready-made solutions. This process radically accelerates the onboarding into a new role, helps build authority and prevents burnout.

There is a dangerous myth in business, or belief, that a promotion to a managerial position magically equips us with all the competencies necessary to manage people. However, reality can be brutal. The transition from an excellent specialist to a manager is one of the toughest moments in a career.

I vividly remember the moment, many years ago, when I took on a managerial position responsible for the Central and Eastern Europe region. Subject matter expertise is one thing, but facing the new dynamics of relationships, the responsibility for a team and a completely new level of pressure made me realize how invaluable it is to have someone by your side who has already walked the same path. This understanding gave rise to my current mentoring practice.

What is managerial mentoring?

While a good coach asks challenging questions and allows you to seek your own path, a business mentor operates in a different dynamic. The mentor shares hard know-how, provides their proven strategies for coping with crises and helps view team problems from a broader, strategic perspective.

When is it worth deciding to seek a mentor's support?

The mentoring process is a tailored solution for leaders at various stages of development. Collaboration will bring you the greatest benefits if:

1. You are a leader for the first time, meaning you have just been promoted and suddenly have to start delegating tasks to your former colleagues in the team. You lack tools for providing feedback and building authority.

2. You are taking on a higher position and transitioning from operational management to strategic management. You need to define your leadership style.

3. Your team is going through a crisis and you are dealing with high turnover, conflicts, decreased motivation or resistance to changes in the organization.

4. You feel the loneliness of leadership, meaning you cannot share all your dilemmas with your employees or superiors. You need someone neutral from outside to consult on difficult personnel and business decisions.

Fact-based mentoring accelerates change.

Modern mentoring is not just about sharing good advice over coffee. For the process to be maximally effective, I combine business experiences with hard, verifiable diagnostic data. In working with management staff, I use recognized psychometric tools:

- ILM72, to precisely diagnose your dominant management style; we check how you balance between focusing on the goal, the individual employee and the entire team.

- Everything DiSC, to give you a map for deciphering your employees' communication styles, which drastically reduces the number of conflicts.

- MTQ, because an effective leader is a leader resilient to stress; we assess your mental resilience so you can maintain focus in a rapidly changing environment.

Benefits of the process for the leader and the organization.

Investing in the development of a manager pays off multiple times for the entire company. A leader receiving mentoring support:

- adapts to the new role much faster,

- makes more accurate and bolder decisions,

- can build an environment of psychological safety within the team,

- delegates tasks more effectively,

- is less prone to burnout and long-term stress.

Are you looking for practical support in management?

Managing people is a beautiful but bumpy road. You don't have to traverse it alone, learning from your own often very costly mistakes.

As an executive coach, a business mentor accredited by ICF and a practitioner with many years of experience in corporations, I help leaders build authentic authority and effective teams.

Schedule an initial consultation and see what our collaboration could look like. I conduct mentoring sessions in Polish and English, in person in my office in Poznan and online.
