Aldona Gaudyn
Career coaching is a developmental process that supports building self-awareness, setting professional goals and overcoming internal barriers. A career coach is not a career advisor. They do not provide ready-made solutions, do not write your CV for you, nor do they search for job offers on your behalf. Instead, by using professional psychometric tools, they help you discover your potential and develop the best path for you.
Do you often wake up thinking that your current job no longer makes sense? Do you feel stuck at a standstill and the promotion did not bring the expected satisfaction?
Or perhaps, like many people, you are considering a complete career change, but you are paralyzed by fear of the unknown?
In the business environment, it is very easy to fall into the tracks set by someone else. When the moment of reflection comes, we often lack the tools to look at our situation objectively. That’s when career coaching comes to the rescue.
One of the most common misunderstandings I encounter in my work is the confusion between the roles of a coach and an advisor. For the process to yield the expected results, you need to know exactly what kind of support you need.
Here’s a brief overview that explains the fundamental differences:
1. Who is the expert?
- career coaching - you are the expert of your life, the coach is the expert in guiding the process and asking the right questions
- career advising - the advisor is the expert on the job market
2. Main goal:
- career coaching - building self-awareness, discovering your values, barriers and resources, strengthening mental resilience
- career advising - quickly finding a new job, defining the candidate profile
3. Working method:
- career coaching - questions, working with beliefs, diagnosing potential
- career advising - evaluating CVs, preparing for interviews, pointing out specific professions
4. Solutions:
- career coaching - you discover them yourself, which gives you full conviction and motivation
- career advising - you receive advice and instructions to follow
Collaboration with a coach is an investment that works best during moments of professional transformation. This process will be ideal for you if:
- you are planning a bold change - you want to leave a corporation and start your own business
- you have been promoted to a leadership position and need to build your authority, learn to delegate tasks, and communicate with your team
- you are facing burnout - your job no longer brings you satisfaction, you lack energy, and you are looking for a way to define your priorities
- you are experiencing chronic stress and need to strengthen your mental resilience to better cope with performance pressure and difficult relationships at work
As an ICF-accredited coach, I work based on the highest ethical standards and proven methodological frameworks. In career coaching, I rarely rely solely on conversation, as my clients greatly value hard data on soft skills.
Depending on your challenge, I incorporate professional diagnostic tools into the process, such as:
1. CliftonStrengths (Gallup Strengths), so we stop focusing on fixing your weaknesses and start consciously building your path in what you are naturally best at.
2. MTQ to precisely measure your level of mental resilience and identify the areas that cause you the most stress.
3. Everything DiSC, to explore your natural communication style and show you how to collaborate more effectively with people who have a completely different behavioral dynamic.
4. ILM72 is indispensable when working on leadership competencies and shows how you manage tasks, individuals and the entire team.
Career coaching is a space where you can finally pause, look at your past achievements from a distance and design your next steps without judgment. It’s work that requires commitment, but in return, it provides deep satisfaction and the restoration of your sense of agency.
If you feel that this is the right moment to consciously steer your professional life, I invite you to sessions. I work with managers, leaders, specialists, and individuals seeking their path in both Polish and English, in-person at my office in Poznan and online.
