Yes, professional coaching is one of the most effective tools for defining a new career path. You don't need to come to the first coaching session with a ready-made plan. An accredited coach will outline a work plan for you, and as is the case in coaching, they won't tell you what to do, but will guide you in such a way that your further direction becomes clearer for you.
Many people, especially those at a crossroads after years of working in one specific area, postpone the decision about development or change, believing that you have to come to coaching with a perfectly defined problem.
In the market, you can encounter an approach from improperly trained or beginner coaches who, right from the start, require a hard, measurable goal. Such pressure often results from a lack of workshop flexibility.
It is worth emphasizing clearly, this is a myth. If you feel the need for change, but your only certainty is that you want to find a new goal, that is an excellent and fully acceptable starting point. A good coaching process starts exactly where you currently are.
In the absence of a clear direction, effective coaching does not force the creation of artificial declarations. Instead, the process focuses on deeper work with self-awareness. Before planning your next steps, it is essential to have a good understanding of your own resources.
My clients most often use 2 tools within the coaching process :
1. Gallup CliftonStrengths - defining what comes easily to you, brings you joy, but also indicating how you function in a group and what you need from the environment in which you work
2. MTQ - allows you to assess how you cope with challenges, sense of impact, or engagement, this assessment is most often chosen by those who want to enter the path related to team management
The process of deconstructing your current career and defining a new one requires appropriate competencies. Coaching conducted by an accredited professional guarantees work based on rigorous ethical standards.
1. Following the Client - an accredited coach knows that a lack of goal is important information, not an obstacle, and adjusts the way of working to your needs without pressuring you for quick results
2. Psychological safety - such collaboration requires trust, and professional coaching provides a space for open exploration of fears and limiting beliefs
3. True partnership - you gain a partner who, through insightful questions and appropriate frameworks, accompanies you in independently developing a new professional identity
Regardless of whether you prefer in-person coaching in Poznań (Poland), or flexible online sessions, a well-conducted process transforms the search phase from frustrating wandering into a structured, fascinating discovery of your own potential.
